Single Sort Recycling May Come To Moorhead

Moorhead is considering a $7.5 million plan that would allow single–sort recycling throughout the city.

Officials say they want to be proactive with sustainability and that this plan could potentially reduce landfills by up to 80%.

People in the city would be able to throw their recyclables in a single bin.

The plan would also reach people living in apartments.

The city is in the middle of a feasibility study.

“You get to recycle which is good, but you also help your landfill because that’s really expensive, and we have cities that are growing in our community. Landfill is costly, frankly,” said Moorhead Mayor Del Rae Williams

The project relies on how much state funding is available.

City leaders will talk about it at the March 3rd council meeting.
