Major Initiatives On General Election Ballot?

North Dakota’s House majority leader wants all ballot initiatives with a $20 million or more fiscal impact to be on the general election ballot.

Fargo Republican Rep. Al Carlson told the House Judiciary Committee that the goal is to have more voters decide costly issues.

He says up to twice as many voters turn out for a general election as they do for a primary election.

Carlson’s resolution is similar to one he pushed last session, but lawmakers amended it and voters rejected “Measure 4” in November.
