Police have tentatively identified a body found in the Sheyenne River as Cole Schwindt.
The snowmobiler from Moorhead went missing in December.

They made the identification based on the clothing found on the body.

Greg Charon was just taking a break from installing flooring in West Fargo when he spotted something in the river.

“The thought was, a body in the river, I questioned myself to make sure that I knew what I was seeing and came up and asked my business partner to come down to take a look at it and see if it was, and then we called 9–1–1 and just had the police come out,” said Charon of Fargo.

Police say they believe the body is Cole Schwindt.

The Moorhead man who’s been missing since December 2nd.
When he went missing, crews searched the river day and night in freezing temperatures.

This is the area of the river where the body was found.

The clothes found on the body match what Schwindt was wearing the day he disappeared.

“It was kind of numbing, you know you just don’t want to see that kind of thing you know and, [I] just feel bad for the family,” said Charon.

Charon says it’s unfortunate he had to find the body but he knows the family needs it for closure.

“Just walk along the river and I happened to spot the man that drowned last year and I feel so bad for the family that this had to happen, but glad that they get to have closure for their dad and their son, their family member,” said Charon.

The family did hold a memorial service earlier this year, but now they’ll be able to finally say goodbye.

The body has been sent to Grand Forks for an autopsy and positive identification.
