Red River Valley Zoo Takes Precautions for Avian Flu

The rapid spread of bird flu in the Midwest has the Red River Zoo taking extra steps to keep their animals safe.

A donation from Cass County Electric will make it possible to add a netting area around the duck marsh.

This will eliminate any wild birds from visiting the open pond that could potentially be carrying the H5N2 virus.

Mallards typically visit the area but so far do not show signs of having the disease.
