People looking to buy and sell a home are rejoicing in Minnesota.
According to SmartAssets, two local cities hold the top spots for the state’s housing market.
Lawn after lawn, all these houses in Detroit Lakes have ‘for sale’ signs.
Online finance company, SmartAsset reports houses on average are on the market for 113 days.
One recent buyer, agrees housing in the area is on the rise.
Lindsey Snleson said, “All of the houses that we looked at before were getting sold in 7 to 9 days. So when we found this house we took it right away.”
Detroit Lakes is ranked the second healthiest housing market in the state.
After conducting surveys, city representatives say they’ve been making some changes in the past few years.
Detroit Lakes Community Development Director Larry Remmen said,”If you don’t have enough housing, you can’t attract the kind of workers you need to grow your businesses. We have some very active businesses that are trying to grow and add more employees, so we do know that housing is very important.”
People in Detroit Lakes aren’t the only one benefiting from the housing market because Moorhead is ranked the best housing market in the state.
According to SmartAsset, houses in the Moorhead market are usually snatched up in less than 50 days, but is it just the sellers who benefit?
President of the Homebuilders Association Clay Dietrich said, “It’s good news for the city, it’s good news for homeowners, it shows there’s a market for their house if they want to sell it, it’s good news for buyers because it shows that they’re buying into a city that has a healthy housing sector so they’re investment is secure.”
“When people find a house they’re really excited. Especially one they want, so we found out we got this we were pretty excited,” said Snleson.
And with good news like this, more people can look forward to buying a home.
