Car Safety Test Gone Wrong:
We live in the age of technology where your home heating system, locks, even counting your steps can all be controlled by a device.
But now it’s your car’s turn.
Volvo announced that it is working on equipping its vehicles with a radar and camera system that scans for pedestrians.
Let’s see how the test run at a dealership went:
(Sounds of screeching tires, people yelling)
Surprisingly, no one was seriously hurt and there were no trips to the hospital.
Volvo says its detection system does work, as seen in this simulation.
As for the test run, Volvo says it was the dealership who failed, not the safety detection system.
The dealership admitted later that they thought the vehicle was equipped with the safety system, when in fact, it was not.
