Man Charged in Grand Forks Murder Represents Himself in Court

The trial for Delvin Shaw is underway in Grand Forks.

He is charged with shooting Jose Lopez to death last June.

Opening statements began this morning and Shaw is representing himself in court.

He is charged with murder and burglary.

The trial is expected to last two weeks.

Authorities say Shaw and Dametrian Welch shot Lopez three times after breaking into his apartment.

Welch pleaded guilty in March to a reduced charge of facilitating murder and burglary.

He’ll be sentenced on July 29.
