Downtown Fargo and Moorhead are back to normal after thousands of people made their way to StreetsAlive!

A swarm of people flooded the streets of downtown Fargo and Moorhead during StreetsAlive!
It’s an effort to get people like Thuy Tran who live in Fargo–Moorhead out and active.

“Consider we are having nine months of winter. I feel like utilizing the summer, the three months of it will be good,” said Tran of Fargo.

Even though temperatures reached the 90’s, that didn’t stop people from enjoying the streets.

“It’s been pretty hot today; it’s been pretty muggy, trying to do some laps around and so far so good,” said Robert Nelson of West Fargo.

The streets were filled with all kinds of activities for kids and adults.

There was even a record attempt to beat the world’s largest bunny hop.

The goal was to get nearly 4,000 to do the dance, but there weren’t quite that many people.

“We’re thrilled to finally have everyone outside celebrating and incorporating movement into their day; people showing off their awesome skills,” said Sara Watson Curry with Great Rides Fargo.

Some skaters gave us great footage of the mini park set up on Broadway.

“Everyone gets to meet here on a nice day, go out do activities,” said Tanner Wika of Fargo.

“Some people I talked to tell me they were just excited about the opportunity to be skating in the heart of Fargo.”

“It’s awesome cause normally you know you got too many cars to deal with. Cops will stop you, so now we get the chance to even like set up a little skate park over here. It’s amazing,” said Wika.

It’s a time for people to just get out and enjoy the day.

“I think it’s a lot of fun. There’s been so much going on today, like the hula hoopers and I think they had some gymnastics stuff going on,” said Emily Vogel of Fargo.

Whether it was biking, skateboarding, or anything in between, StreetsAlive! helped get people up and active.

StreetsAlive! also promotes the adoption of biking and walking to get around.
