Cass & Clay Counties At High Risk for West Nile

There is an earlier-than-usual appearance of mosquitoes known to carry the West Nile virus in the metro.

Ben Prather of Cass County Vector Control says the mosquitoes started showing up in surveillance traps earlier this month.

He says Cass and Clay counties have some of the highest per capita human transmissions of West Nile virus in the world.

Prather expects another round of ground spraying by early next week to control mosquito numbers.
