Attorneys Want Portions of Alfonso Rodriguez Hearing Closed

Attorneys for Alfonso Rodriguez want a federal judge to close portions of an evidence-related hearing next month.

The reason for the request is unclear because the motion is sealed.

Attorneys also won’t comment on a court entry that refers to a sealed document regarding “alleged juror misconduct.”

Rodriguez was sentenced to death in 2006 for the kidnapping and murder of UND student Dru Sjodin in 2003.

Attorneys have claimed he isn’t mentally competent for the death penalty.
