Pride is at an all–time high for members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community here in the valley.
Organizers of Fargo–Moorhead’s Pride week say this year’s Pride in the Park event was the biggest they’ve ever had.
Over 90 vendors and hundreds of people celebrated LGBT pride at Island Park in Fargo.
There were booths set up from local businesses, religious organizations and more.
Pride in the Park is one of the many celebrations for pride week.
“There’s still a lot of discrimination that goes on across the country and it’s a chance for us to get together and remember that not everybody is as fortunate as we are here. In fact we just had a friend that was gay bashed really bad in the cities this last week and it’s another reminder that equality isn’t everywhere,” said Chuck Hofius of Perham.
“It’s some place that we can come and we can celebrate our triumphs and we can teach each other and the businesses are here to show us that they support us too you know. So it’s just some place to feel comfortable, and not have to worry about not being ourselves,” said organizer Elizabeth Kinzer.
The Pride Parade is Sunday afternoon at 2 in downtown Fargo.
