White Earth Tribal Members Oppose Oil Pipeline Reroute
White Earth tribal members are opposed to Enbridge Energy’s plan to reroute a 50-year-old oil pipeline near their reservation.
About 100 people attended a public hearing last night and voiced concerns over the potential for the energy company’s line to leak and damage the land’s natural resources.
Enbridge plans to replace more than 1,000 miles of an old pipeline across Minnesota from Canada to Superior, Wisconsin.
The company plans to leave the old pipe in the ground.
