Sen. Heitkamp Says She Won’t Drag Out Race for Governor Decision

Senator Heidi Heitkamp says she will announce whether she plans to seek the Democratic nomination for governor in a matter of days.

Gov. Dalrymple announced he will not be running for re-election next year and Heitkamp has been mentioned as a possible candidate.

She says she realizes it’s important to reveal her plans as soon as possible and expects an announcement in 5 to 7 days.

Heitkamp says it’s not fair to residents, the Democratic Party, or her staff to have the issue “drag out.”
