Watermain Break Puts Commuters on Hold in Fargo

A major travel route in Fargo shut down after a large water main break.

It flooded the 10th street North underpass between 4th and 6th Avenues.

Lee Anderson of public works says it filled up like a swimming pool.

It took some time for the small lift station to handle the runoff.

The water main break occurred on 6th Avenue north, sending thousands of gallons of water spewing onto nearby 10th street and then down to the underpass.

The force of the water caused significant pavement damage and 6th avenue may be closed for up to a week to make repairs.
