A teen is charged after reportedly threatening a group of people in Moorhead.

Around 6 p.m. Tuesday night, officers got a call about six men being threatened by a 16-year-old boy armed with a handgun.

Police searched the area of 18th Street and 12th Avenue South after the boy fled on foot.

A K-9 was brought in and they found him hiding in a backyard in the 1400 block of 18th Street South.

The boy’s girlfriend was also involved.

“That is disturbing that he not only had access but is using it to perpetrate another crime. And then, again, with this instance, his girlfriend feeling compelled to intervene by, she actually had tried to block the officer throwing her body into the officer,” says Lt. Tory Jacobson of Moorhead Police.

Police believe the handgun was stolen.

The boy is charged with assault, fleeing, possession of stolen property and he had an outstanding warrant.
