A metro foundation that supports the arts, education and basic human needs is celebrating 55 years.
The FM Area Foundation is marking the milestone with a ribbon cutting at its new location at 409 7th Street South in Fargo.
Metro mayors were on hand along with former Moorhead Mayor Morrie Lanning who is Board Chair.
The foundations grants support a number of local nonprofits each year.
“The non-profits, there’s 1500 non-profit organizations in Fargo-Moorhead, excuse me Cass and Clay county, that serve the community. Those individuals have the pulse of what’s going on and this will give us an opportunity to accumulate that information and bring it here in one place,” says Executive Director Tim Beaton.
The FM Area Foundation has granted more than $38 million to support charitable causes since its inception in 1960.
