The Fargo Planning Department is taking advice on how to improve downtown.
They invited officials from Winnipeg to discuss downtown master planning.
Paul Jordan of The Forks, a historic site and meeting place in downtown Winnipeg, was a guest speaker.
He said Fargo can take advantage of its proximity to the Red River.
At the Winnipeg Forks, he incorporated the river into planning by converting it into an ice skating trail in the winter with warming houses along it.
“We plan ten years in advance. We don’t really do a master plan. We try not to fix things. We try to allow for things. It’s a very organic process,” says The Forks CEO Paul Jordan.
Fargo city officials are looking to explore these ideas to come up with a city center strategic plan.
