Cold Spring, Minnesota will host Gov. Walz for 2027 fishing opener

ST. PAUL, Minn. (KVRR) — Governor Walz announces the location of next year’s 79th Minnesota Governor’s Fishing Opener.

The event will take place in Cold Spring on May 14 and 15, 2027.

Cold Spring is about 15 miles southwest of St. Cloud.

This is the first time the city has hosted the opener. The tradition in Minnesota dates back to 1948.
