Exclusive? NBC Says ‘I don’t think so, ABC’

ABC News is apologizing for promoting as exclusive an O.J. Simpson story that covered ground reported 15 years ago by NBC.

In a statement, ABC said it had the wrong impression that video from a deposition given by Simpson had not aired before at length.

The tapes were part of a “20/20” broadcast that aired Friday after being heavily promoted by ABC as exclusive and including “never-before-seen videos.’
 
Simpson’s deposition was connected to a civil lawsuit filed against him for the killings of his ex-wife, Nicole Simpson, and Ron Goldman.

NBC’s first reported on the video in 1999.

NBC called the out on twitter saying: Oh, hey @abc2020 @GMA partying like it’s 1999! Check out #Dateline logo from first time we aired the tapes! #retro.
