Xcel Energy Breaks Ground on $300 Million Dollar Wind Farm
Xcel Energy has broken ground on a $300 million wind farm south of Courtenay.
The 100 wind turbines will generate enough electricity to power 105,000 homes.
The North Dakota Public Service Commission had given Xcel permission to buy the project from Edina-based Geronimo Energy. Xcel had already been planning
to buy the energy from the project.
More than 60 landowners agreed to lease 25,000 acres of their land for the project.
It should be finished by the end of 2016.
