There is a new police chief in Fargo.

The City Commission approved interim Chief Dave Todd for the position.

Todd has served as interim police chief in Fargo for almost a year.

On Friday, he was the recommended candidate from the selection committee.

Chief Todd beat out Fargo Lieutenant Joel Vettel and Captain George Austin from the Charlotte Mecklenberg North Carolina Police Department.

“I’m excited about this opportunity. It’s something I’ve been working for these last eleven months,” says Chief Todd.

Chief Todd says his future plans include reducing street crime and having a stronger structure in the department.
