A woman shares her personal journey of what it’s like to be a mother with a child of special needs.

The book “Not My Plan,” talks about Joyce Yexley and her daughter Amy, who has brain damage.

The book is from Joyce’s perspective on grief and how she overcomes it.

Her grief stemmed from thoughts of her daughter never being able to experience the quintessential life.

She has learned to accept her daughter’s musical talents and wants to inspire other parents.

“I wrote this book mainly to give hope and encourage other parents who have children with special needs,” says Joyce Yexley.

According to the CDC, autism affects 1 in 68 people under the age of 21 living in the U.S.

The book can be found at your local bookstore and online through Amazon.
