Prairie Public and Gate City Bank Kick Off Mister Rogers Sweater Drive
Prairie Public and Gate City Bank are bringing back Mister Rogers and his red sweater for a good cause.
For the fourth year in a row the two organizations are partnering to host the Mister Rogers sweater drive.
From now until December 12th Gate City Banks across the area will be accepting new and gently used sweaters that will donated to those in need.
Prairie Public says the drive is a way to bring back the spirit of Mister Rogers, whose mission was to help others.
“It’s a big part of prairie public and PBS history there’s a sweater of his in the Minnesotan, and his mother knitted all those sweaters for him, and so we just love to carry on that tradition of sweaters and helping people,” said Jena Haakenson of Prairie Public.
Last year 3,600 bags of sweaters were donated, Prairie Public is hoping to top that this year with 4,000.
