Nepal Still Needs Help And FM Residents Are Responding
Villagers are still recovering after a 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal in April of this year and community members from the FM area want to help.
The Spirit Room is holding an open exhibition of authentic Buddhist thangkas, all for sale. Thangkas are a traditional painting depicting different aspects of Buddhism passed from one generation to the next. One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit Nepalese earthquake victims.
“People are certainly getting their lives back together in the area where the earthquake was, so it was pretty much leveled. Almost everything is built by hand there so it does take time,” says Spirit Room Volunteer Scott Curfman.
Community members were able to enjoy some Nepalese food, while admiring the various thangkas for sale. All of the thangkas are hand made from Nepal. The fundraiser will run through November 30th.
