Attempted Murder Charges in Halloween Shooting
Three men are facing attempted murder charges for a Dilworth apartment shooting on Halloween night.
Dilworth police are still unsure exactly how many men shot their way into an apartment unit on 5th street N.W. in Dilworth.
24-year-old Lloyd Johnson of Fargo turned himself into police this morning.
Mardale Johnson and Lenard Wells are still waiting formal charges.
Both were already arrested on previous charges. Many residents didn’t hear anything, despite multiple shots being fired. This doesn’t come as a surprise to Dilworth’s chief of police.
“Nothing like this has happened since I’ve been here they probably didn’t recognize them as gunshots thinking its Halloween, fireworks, anything. I just don’t think the people thought or paid any attention that there was gun shots,” says Chief Ty Sharpe with the Dilworth Police.
Police say there was a hotel party in Fargo earlier that evening where a fight started.
It’s believed a group of men followed the other group to an apartment in Dilworth where gun shots rang out.
No one was hurt during the shooting.
Dilworth police say there is no danger to the public and tenants should not be worried.
Chief Sharpe says it’s been more than 10 years since the town of Dilworth has seen something like this.
