Package Tracking Apps Can Help You Avoid the Grinch this Holiday
If you’re worried a loved one won’t receive a package this holiday season, your phone may able to give you a little more peace of mind.
Postal carriers say to prevent your package from being a target for thieves, use postal carrier apps.
Worried about the tracking and delivery status of a package this holiday season?
There’s an app for that.
“All the delivery services have an app, and you get online with that app and they’ll notify you when your package is going to arrive,” said Jay Wentzell, a U.S. Postal Carrier.
Jay says he doesn’t just recommend using the app because he works for the post office, but from experience too.
“I just got notified this morning that a package I mailed to my daughter arrived at station at 5:30 in the morning, and it was delivered at 6:30, and all I did was text her and say look out your front door…there’s your package,” said Jay.
Package tracking apps send notifications to your phone on the status of your package and they also allow you to change the delivery status if your loved one won’t be home.
If you’re not into apps, there are other ways you can prevent package theft.
Post office carriers say one of the best tips to make sure you get your package is to get to know your neighbors and your carrier.
But some people say apps can be too much of a headache.
“Oh no I just don’t have time to do that. I just trust that my package will arrive. I haven’t had any trouble,” said Julie Hardmeyer of Fargo.
Others say they will stick to the traditional ways of making sure their package arrives safe.
“I’ll tell my neighbors that I’m leaving to Colorado, and they always check on my mailbox and my Fargo Forum,” said Roland Enkers of Moorhead.
Other tips to prevent package theft include installing a security camera, or secured mailbox.
