Health Department Investigating Illness at Cass County Jail
More than 100 Cass County Jail inmates are being treated for a stomach illness.
A Sheriff’s Office Captain says inmates began showing symptoms overnight, including diarrhea and upset stomach.
110 of the 282 inmates became ill by 6 o’clock this morning.
The health department is helping the sheriff’s office investigate the outbreak including its cause.
They are collecting stool samples to determine if bacteria caused the outbreak.
No inmates are reporting worsening symptoms.
