MN Highway Patrol: More Drunk Driving Crashes During Christmas Season
The Minnesota Highway Patrol is reminding drivers to be safe during one of the worst times of the year for drunk driving.
The patrol says n average, 320 people are arrested for DWI over the Christmas holiday period and about 600 crashes result in at least two deaths.
Nearly half of traffic fatalities are alcohol related during the Christmas season, the second highest rate of any holiday during the year.
Only about a quarter of traffic deaths overall in Minnesota are alcohol-related.
Extra DWI enforcement is on Minnesota roads weekends through January 2nd.
