Shots Fired in Downtown Fargo

It’s unclear why 21-year-old Cody Haugen of Fargo fired multiple rounds from a pistol.

Haugen had been in the Empire bar with the concealed weapon earlier in the night.

Police say around one in the morning Haugen fired several shots in the air.

They got multiple complaints from witnesses and even heard the shots themselves.

Police responded right away and found Haugen holding an empty pistol.

After locating several shell casings nearby, police determined Haugen had fired the gun.

“It’s almost impossible to figure out what goes through somebody’s mind to fire a weapon into the air in a busy crowded area. Albeit it was one in the morning so there probably weren’t a lot of people outside but still obviously dangerous to fire a weapon any place in the city limits,” says Lt. Michael Mitchell with Fargo Police.

Police say it doesn’t appear Haugen was shooting at anyone or anything.

Haugen faces charges of reckless endangerment, discharging a firearm in city limits and possession of a concealed weapon.
