Moorhead Girl Battling Genetic Disorder Gets Wish Granted
A four–year–old Moorhead girl with a genetic disorder gets her wish granted.
Halle Tunheim was born with Marfan Syndrome, which affects connective tissue throughout the body.
But like many little girls, she’s obsessed with the movie, “Frozen” and let’s just say she isn’t going to let this go.
“It was kind of a surprise all along the way so we had no idea how it would play out,” says mother Ann Tunheim.
Families and friends gathered at Barnes and Noble to surprise Halle.
Even her fairy godmother made an appearance.
“She originally thought her fairy godmother was coming to see what her wish was. So I thought that I needed to dress up as a fairy godmother,” says Judy Kubalak of Make-A-Wish.
Halle is having a Cinderella moment.
Her wish of going on a Disney cruise to the Bahamas is coming true.
There are a few things she’s excited about,Princess Ana and Elsa and…
“Swim with the dolphins,” says Halle.
If there’s anything you need to know about Halle, it’s that she’s love princesses and dolphins.
Ann adds, “We pretend we’re dolphins in the bath tub and swimming pools so they’re just going to freak out. They have no idea what they have in store for them.”
The whole family is expecting to have the time of their life on the Disney cruise.
But for Halle “for the first time in forever,” this wish gives her a chance to be herself.
Ann explains, “She has had a lot of time in hospitals and undergoing tests. I’m just excited for her to have a care free experience.”
It took months for the wish to be granted.
But when the unveiling happens, it’s a magical moment for the wish kid.
“It gives people things to hope for. And I think that’s what we all need some times. So this just speaks to all the greatness that we can do with that,” says wish granter Jessica Hotchkiss.
“I’m excited for her to just be a kid,” says Ann.
Halle and her family have to still face Marfan syndrome.
But now their biggest focus is these two things, the Disney cruise and dolphin swimming.
