Senator Klobuchar Pushes Bill to Help Monitor Prescription Drug Use
As addiction to prescription drugs continues to rise throughout the nation legislatures are taking action.
Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar says there has been huge increase in use of prescription drugs not from dealers, but from doctors.
In effort to combat the growing addiction nationwide, Klobuchar is hoping to enhance prescription drug monitoring.
As a result, Klobuchar and a bi-partisan group lawmakers have created the “Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act” that will take they to the Senate.
“What we need to do, one we need to get states to monitor prescription drugs more, and figure out are these people going to different doctors and getting them. Let’s start trying to have some rules of the road when it comes to prescription drugs,” said Senator Klobuchar.
Statistics show that 4 out of 5 heroin addicts started with prescription drugs.
