Concordia College Under Fire for Cutting Foreign Language Majors
Concordia College officials are facing criticism from some students and alumni after announcing plans to make cuts in foreign languages.
The college will stop offering certain majors, including French, German and Latin, to help balance its budget.
President William Craft says the cutbacks are needed after years of falling enrollment and a $2.7 million budget gap.
Classes in most of the languages will still be offered, but not enough to qualify for majors.
