ND Farmers Union a Step Closer to Blocking Changes in Corporate Farming

Ballot language has been approved for a referendum that would block a new law that relaxes North Dakota’s Depression-era ban against corporate farming.

North Dakota Farmers Union is leading the campaign to overturn the Legislature’s decision last year to exempt pork and dairy operations from the state’s anti-corporate farming law.

Supporters say the legislation is intended to revitalize dairy and swine farms after years of decline.

It is the only statewide measure that will appear on the June election ballot.
