North Dakota Lawmakers Contribute to Mansion Fund
Current and former North Dakota lawmakers account for about a third of people making private contributions for a new governor’s home.
The Legislature approved a new $5 million residence, only if 20 percent of its cost is funded by private donations.
Committee co–chairman Jim Poolman told a panel of lawmakers that more than $500,000 has been donated.
He says the entire $1 million in private donations should be obtained by summer.
Construction is planned to begin next year.
