CVB Awards Honor Those who Champion Tourism in the Metro

People who help showcase Fargo-Moorhead to the rest of the world are honored.

The Convention and Visitors Bureau hosts its annual awards luncheon.

The bureau gave out a half dozen awards for people and groups that help promote Fargo and bring people into the city.

CVB President Charley Johnson says 2015 was a good year for local tourism, even if the industry took a little bit of a hit after a robust 2014.

Johnson explains, “Things slowed down a little bit in the second half of ’15 in terms of occupancy goes. We’re not immune from some of the same things that cause slowdowns elsewhere. We used to get a lot of traffic back and forth through our hotels for the oil trade out there.”

The year 2016 is looking up though.

A tourism ad campaign featuring North Dakota native Josh Duhamel has resulted in one billion online impressions since it debuted in January.
