The project, in the works since 2023, replaces a pool that had stood in that spot for 66 years.

MOORHEAD, MN (KVRR) – Last summer, folks in Fargo got to see the debut of the revamped Island Park Pool.

Now the City of Moorhead has its own brand-new municipal pool to call its own.

The remodeled aquatics center at Romkey Park was opened to the public for the first time today at half past noon.

Construction began in 2023 on the new pool.

It replaced a pool that had previously stood on that site for 66 years.

The pool now has two waterslides, a diving board, a climbing wall, a zero-depth wading pool – and even a concession stand so you don’t have to leave Romkey to get a bite.

City staff say it’s exciting to see so many investments being made in the community.

“Not that many communities get to reinvent their downtown, as well as kind of reinvent a park,” said Sean Brandenburg, Moorhead’s recreation director. “The revitalization going on in Moorhead is kind of key.”

Essentia Health representatives were also on-site handing out free pool towels to families who showed up for the grand opening.
