Fargo Police Tackle Distracted Driving
Fargo police are also cracking down on people texting behind the wheel.
April is national Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and officers will be out in force to make sure drivers are getting the message.
The campaign is part of a regional distracted driving reduction effort.
Police say it’s because so far, drivers haven’t started taking warnings about texting and driving seriously.
“It’s a convenience thing, people think I have a second, I’ll just read it while I’m at a stop sign, but a second is all it takes to cause a serious crash or in some cases, a fatality,” said Sergeant Jim Kringlie of the Fargo Police Department.
Officers are also watching for speeding, stopping and other violations during the campaign.
