Local Superheroes Fighting to End Hunger with the Great Plains Food Bank
Superheroes are fighting to end hunger in our area.
Hope Lutheran Church partnered with Great Plains Food Bank for its second annual Fight Hunger 5k with a superhero theme.
The run raises money for the food bank’s backpack program.
It’s a program that helps provide weekend meals for children who struggle with hunger.
The church is sponsoring McKinley Elementary and Lewis & Clark Elementary for the program.
“There’s about seven to eight thousand children that are at risk every year. And just in the Fargo-Moorhead region. Not only that but they’re trying to take the backpack program across the state of North Dakota. It is possible, in our lifetime to end hunger in this state,” says Hope Luther Church Pastor Paul Nynas.
