Police Catch Dumpster Diver After High Speed Pursuit

A Moorhead man is in custody after police say they found him hiding under garbage in a dumpster following a high-speed chase.

They say 32-year-old Jason Steckroat fled a traffic stop near a gas station on 34th Street South around 11:30 last night.

When he hit 70 miles per hour, they called off the pursuit – only to spot Steckroat almost hit a Clay County deputy.

He dumped his pickup in a hotel parking lot and was found hiding in a dumpster.

He’s facing several felonies and was wanted on several warrants for drug charges.
