Construction Halted On New Governor’s Mansion
Construction on a new mansion for the governor has been put on hold.
Two bills for the $5 million mansion were rejected by a Republican–controlled, five–member delayed bills committee.
Lawmakers say it’s not the time to build a new home for the governor while the state is having to make cuts.
House Republican majority leader Al Carlson of Fargo says the intent of the session is to be short and focused on the budget.
