Two Possibly Facing Fines, Citations in Wilkin County Trailer Fire
The Wilkin County Sheriff’s Office says they found two people who are responsible for starting a fire that destroyed a trailer home on Sunday.
Dustin and Jake Barton are accused of setting fire to the trailer.
The Sheriff’s Office says the men were clearing their property and did not own the home.
They say even though it was on the Barton’s property, the burning is still considered illegal because the proper paperwork was not in place.
“We do issue burn permits, but you cannot burn prohibited materials because of the pollutants, there’s a lot of furniture, carpet, stuff like that,” said Wilkin County Sheriff Rick Fiedler.
No one was injured in the blaze.
The Bartons could be facing fines and a citation for prohibited burning.
