Walking the Dogs for Pit Bull Awareness Day
October 22nd is National Pit Bull Awareness Day.
To celebrate, 4 Luv of Dog Rescue held their Third Annual Pit Bull Awareness Walk at Island Park.
Many say pit bulls have a pretty bad reputation as far as dogs go.
Shelters call this walk a way for owners and fans of the breed to help combat their PR problems.
Not only pit bulls were at the walk though, all breeds were welcome.
“Pit bulls are one of the number one breeds that are left at shelters and also euthanized, meaning put to sleep. That is due to the fact that many people can’t find housing that will allow the breed because of the negative stigma. It’s also due to the over breeding and miseducation of people,” says 4 Luv of Dog Rescue President, Kish Hilmert.
4 Luv of Dog Rescue says they have a number of Pit Bulls up for adoption.
