Should North Dakota and Minnesota Have “No Candy” Laws for Sex Offenders?

It’s no secret that there are sex offenders in every town, which is why trick or treaters are being cautioned to stay safe during Halloween.

More than 12 states have a “no candy law”, which prohibits sex offenders from handing out candy to trick or treaters on Halloween.

Although there are predators in the area, North Dakota and Minnesota are not on that list.

Police did share with us tips to avoid dangerous scenarios.

“Go to the North Dakota sex offender website and look to see where the high risk offenders are at and determine whether or not it’s in your best interest to go trick or treating in those neighborhoods,” said Fargo Police Deputy Chief Joe Anderson.

Police also remind us that celebrating Halloween as a family creates a safer environment.
