Bringing Wrestling Back to P.E.

Students at Washington Elementary School in Fargo are getting the unique opportunity to learn wrestling from one of the best.

All–American wrestler, and NDSU student, Hayden Zillmer, along with assistant wrestling coach Nicholas Magee, are teaching the school’s students the basics of wrestling.

Teachers say interest in the sport has been falling in the last few years and they say Zillmer and Magee agreed to help spark some ideas for students.

“A lot of people don’t know what it’s about and once you start to understand what it is you start to really like it. Whether you like it yourself on a physical level or if you just like it as a fan there’s a lot of things it brings to the table,” says Magee.

Magee says he’s already had students ask about taking out-of-school wrestling classes.
