Davies High School Works on Building a Positive School Community

Freshmen at Davies High School had a fun filled day during a compassion retreat.

It was led by Rollie Johnson, a lay pastor at First Lutheran Church.

The goal of the retreat is to get students familiar with each other and also to build a positive school community.

Activities included trust building games, storytelling about respect and small group discussions.

Leaders of the retreat consisted of upperclassmen.

“I like at the end when you can see that they’re already more together,” said Compassion Leader Nathan Horner. “There’s not a lot of people that are left out. You can see they’re already happy by the end of the day.”

Half of the 9th grade class attended the first session of the retreat today and the other half will attend the session tomorrow.
