Therapy Dogs Help Kids Learn To Read
Furry friends are lending an ear to kids learning to read at the Fargo Library in Downtown.
Therapy Pets of the Red River Valley is letting kids to read to dogs on the second Saturday of every month through April.
Organizers say the dogs allow kids to fine tune their reading skills in a friendly environment.
They say it’s a good way to get kids scared of dogs to warm up to the animals.
“It really is. They’ve all gone through the certification of training and my dog has gone through the complex ratings so they’re used to being gentle around kids and even if kids are not real comfortable with dogs, these are a great way to get them associated with dogs,” says Barb Gagnon with Therapy Pets of the Red River Valley.
