Washington Elementary Fourth Graders on a Mission to Fight Hunger

Fourth graders at Washington Elementary are learning what hunger looks like firsthand.
The kids teamed up with Concordia College students to show how our community fights hunger.

They put up 22 different presentations after meeting clients at an emergency food pantry.

Moorhead Mayor Del Rae Williams joined attendees in packing food for children in need.

“It’s teaching them how to help others in the community,” said Melissa Krueger, who is a fourth grade teacher at Washington Elementary. “And I think that as they grow older, this will be a great firsthand experience and they can continue to help others in the community as they grow.”

They’re presenting again at Family Fare in Fargo on Monday and will be joined by Fargo Mayor Tim Mahoney.
