Devils Lake City Commission Continues 1987 Ban on Dog Breeds

Pit bulls, Staffordshire terriers and mixes of the two breeds are still banned in Devils Lake.

Mayor Dick Johnson cast the deciding vote in a 3-2 decision to uphold the ban which has been in place since 1987.

The commission last month directed the city attorney to draft an ordinance that would end the ban.

But the mayor says the message he heard from people was that they don’t want pit bulls in the city.
