Valley City Police Chief Officially Resigns from Position

Valley City Police Chief Fred Thompson has officially resigned from his position with the city.

The city commission says they unanimously approve of Thompson’s resignation and that he brought a higher level of professionalism to the department.

Thompson says he is going to pursue other opportunities but would not explain any more.

He had been chief of the Valley City Police Department since 2012.

City officials say they will begin the search for a new chief in January.
