Clara Barton Students Present Food Waste Projects

Students at Clara Barton Elementary School Tell Their Peers Ways to Avoid Food Waste

FARGO, N.D. — Local students are giving advice on how to not waste food.

Third graders at Clara Barton Elementary school presented why food waste is bad and how they can solve this problem.

In hopes to make an impact on others, the presentation took place in the cafeteria while students were eating lunch.

Mayor Tim Mahoney and Fargo Public Schools Nutrition Services Director Cindy Hogenson attended the presentations.

“If you have rotten bananas, don’t throw them away.  Make banana bread,” said third grader Anna Lacher.  “If you have extra little pieces of vegetables, carrots and celery…not enough to eat them…you can make your own broth.”

Third graders will continue their presentations on Friday.
